Apart from promoting sports as an instrument for physical and mental fitness, the objective of sports club at school is to promote camaraderie among the students.Having access to sports and games school age children develop a sense of self-esteem, healthy team work, sportsmanship and self-discipline. Numerous physical benefits include maintaining a healthy weight, preventing chronic diseases and promoting healthy and active lifestyles not only in early childhood. Structured and organized sports activities help school age children develop important social skills such as good citizenship, positivity peer relations and respect for authority and rules. Children learn skills that help them in school as well as future careers and social interactions. Through engagement in sports children learn leadership, teamwork problem solving and taking initiative. Bringing together individuals from different religions, races and economic backgrounds sports can faster mutual respect, understanding and tolerance. Sports club at SCS organizes cricket, badminton, boxing, basketball, lawn tennis, football, volleyball, skating, chess and hockey matches in the form of interclass and interhouse competitions. Sports fiesta “Lakshya”- The Annual Sports day is the culmination of sports spirit among children at St. Carmel.
